Rain halts geothermal play

Heavy rainfall hits Paralana

Petratherm’s Paralana geothermal energy project has been hampered by bad weather.

A planned temperature measurement of its 3.7km deep Paralana 2 well in northern South Australian has been delayed due to heavy rainfall.

Around 79mm of rain fell at Paralana in two days last week, which has prevented equipment required to undertake the temperature logs of the cased well being delivered onsite.

Temperature and other logs from the cased Paralana 2 well are planned to be undertaken in the next two weeks with a bottom hole temperature expected to be announced soon after.
