Lord Digby Jones keynote address at AOG expo to be a highlight

Business Ambassador for UK Trade and Investment, Lord Digby Jones, will reflect on the shifting nature of global economies and provide valuable insight on staying competitive, when he addresses attendees at the official AOG dinner in Perth.

Lord Jones will visit Australia as a joint initiative between the Government of Western Australia’s European Office (WAGO) and the Australasian Oil & Gas Expo – to promote WA as a platform for partnerships and relationships with UK companies and to support extended business opportunities in Asia.

“We are honoured to host Lord Jones as the key speaker at the official AOG dinner and look forward to what is sure to be an inspiring and fascinating address. With a reputation for humour and a phenomenal biography of business escapades, I have no doubt that Lord Jones will be a captivating speaker,” AOG exhibition director Bill Hare said.

Lord Jones has a long and illustrious career steeped in the business of business. Having served as director general of the Confederation of British Industry and as Minister of State for Trade, Lord Jones regularly visited businesses in the UK and worldwide, meeting with the world’s business leaders and politicians.

He was instrumental in changing the way UK Trade and Investment was perceived and expanded the UK’s presence in all major international markets.

At the official AOG dinner, to be held on Thursday, March 25 at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, Lord Jones will address the audience with a ‘Walk around the globe’ – a reflection on where economies are now and the shifting of the balance of power in terms of business.

A call to action, Lord Jones will inspire companies to continually innovate and add value in order to remain competitive with the likes of developing nations such as China, India and Brazil.

“Lord Jones has revolutionised the United Kingdom’s impact as an economy – stimulating business growth and political advancement. His intimate knowledge of world economies, forthright opinions and genuine passion for wealth creation through business will be of particular relevance to the oil and gas industry and Western Australia’s local economy,” Mr Hare said.
