JV finds nickel potential

Western Areas and Troy Resources are celebrating a potentially significant zone of nickel sulphide mineralisation discovered during diamond drilling at the Sandstone joint venture.

Sandstone is 400km north of Western Areas Forrestania nickel project in the south of western Australia and drilling has been focused on Area C.

A drill hole returned spot values from 1-1.5 per cent nickel for the disseminated sulphides and up to 9.5 per cent nickel for vein sulphides.

The companies said there is insufficient information at this stage to estimate the true width of the sulphide zone but more drilling will follow.

Western Areas has a 70 per cent interest in the project, with Troy Resources accounting for the remaining 30 per cent.
