Lynas Corporation has confirmed it has produced the first rare earths products from its plant in Malaysia.

In an announcement today (Wednesday) the company said the Lynas Advanced Material Plant (LAMP) has suffered from some production issues but they will not impact on the production ramp-up which is expected to reach around 11,000 tonnes per annum of rare earth oxides later this year.

“Following commissioning of the cracking and leaching circuits, the company has been working through early stage production issues that are typical for any strat up of new plant,” the company said in a statement.

“Our focus is on increasing throughput and optimising use of equipment.”
